Hi Kristina,
I've only spent a bit of time playing with foam, and I still haven't found an ideal way of finishing it. It seems like there is some sort of way out there, but I just haven't found it yet. I mean, it sounds like most theme parks are made from sculpted poly urethane foam with some sort of hard coating on top.
There's some good info on http://www.sculpture.net, which has been my main resource in all this. My only advice would be to not to go with the spray can insulation type foam... it has more squish in the finished foam than is desirable, once you carve into it at all.
 Good luck!

Hello Eva,
I am currently working with my local library on making a large tree for children to go into, within the public library.
I see you work with foam, and you have experience doing sculpture. I am trying to discern if it is possible to put a coating on the spray foam/chicken wire sculpture, that would make it hard.
Any ideas? Thanks. I appreciate it.

The chicken wire sculptures are cool and free forming. The sculptures are impressive and have good craftmanship. Beautiful work.

Hey Eva,

Very cool installation! I love the one flying out of the airduct(?) Nice idea with the time-lapse. The first thing that came to mind was Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians' "Ghost of a dog."

Keep up the imaginative work!

"Hey" to everyone,

Jamie

I need to be your friend so i can someday be gifted one of your sculptures. They are so beautiful. Also I need friends that I can join in their wood firing. I'll probably need to move for that to happen. I live in Texas, and about half of it just burnt, so a week long 2400 degree fire sounds like it won't go over well with any authorities.

Hi Stephanie!
I'm so glad you've been enjoying my work and my blog. My time here at Guldagergaard has been absolutely great, if super busy. It's definitely a new, intense experience of living, working, and talking about clay 24/7. The closest thing in my experience is far is the anagama firings that I do twice a year or so - just the process of sitting around with so many different clay artists over meals of good food and red wine. My guess is that you'll love it!
However, I will say that I wasn't lucky enough to be one of their invited guest artists, but rather I applied and was accepted as an artist in residence. It has been very nice though, since all of us, guest artists and artist in residence alike, share work space. It's been very cool learning from everyone. Anyway, congratulations so much on the invitation! Let me know next time you're in town, and we can meet up at pottery northwest!
